Richard Gallagher

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Richard is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and a member of APPI. He holds a BA in Psychology from Dublin Business School, an MA in Psychoanalysis from Kingston University London, and an MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from University College Dublin.

Richard has a long-standing interest in neurodiversity and has worked with neurodivergent individuals in various capacities for over ten years. His experience spans therapeutic roles in both the UK and Ireland, as well as work within organisations dedicated to supporting neurodiverse people. Alongside his clinical practice, Richard has held senior management positions in mental health support services, giving him a broad perspective on the systems that neurodivergent individuals must navigate.

Richard is committed to understanding the diverse ways neurodivergent people experience the world. Neurodiverse individuals often navigate a world that doesn’t always accommodate their way of thinking, sensing, or relating. This can bring unique insights and creativity, but also feelings of overwhelm, misunderstanding, or self-doubt. In therapy, these experiences are approached with empathy and curiosity, helping individuals explore their emotional life, relational patterns, and personal strengths in a supportive space.

Grounded in a psychoanalytic framework, Richard remains flexible and responsive to the needs of every individual.
